Why your child may need a hearing test

Perhaps your child isn’t responding to sounds or listening as well as you would expect. They may seem less responsive, have a history of ear infections, appear delayed in their speech and language development or there is a family history of hearing loss.

What to expect at your child’s hearing assessment

Children’s hearing assessments are carried out by our friendly and highly experienced paediatric audiologists.

These accredited audiologists will work with a multidisciplinary team to support your child with services which may include:

Hearing assessments for children from 6 months
Assessment of ear health (including middle ear examination)
Audiological support for children enrolled in the Can:Do 4Kids Listening and Spoken Language Program
Auditory processing assessment and management
Cochlear implant mapping (including device management)
Assistive listening devices, such as personal listening devices
Hearing protection and customised earplugs
Soundfields, Rogers, assistive technology and classroom acoustics
