Why include a soundfield system?

Soundfields are finely tuned voice amplification systems delivering a consistent experience of sound in classrooms and other settings.

The benefits of soundfields include the clarity and depth of sound they bring to an environment via a higher signal-to-noise (SNR) ratio. In the classroom, where young students require a higher SNR due to their immature listening and language systems, soundfield systems improve the learning experience by improving speaker audibility which in turn promotes improved attention, engagement, comprehension and learning.

While soundfield systems improve audibility for everyone in a learning environment, they are particularly beneficial for students who are deaf, hard of hearing, have an Auditory Processing Disorder, ADHD or Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Soundfields support:

Teachers by reducing vocal strain and improving communication.

Students with temporary or permanent hearing loss.

Students with special needs or learning difficulties.

Students from non-English speaking backgrounds.

Students at the back of the room.

All students through improved sound clarity.

A better listening experience

How do soundfields work?

Soundfields distribute speech evenly via highly tuned speakers, achieving a greater signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) which is crucial for better comprehension. This technology doesn’t just amplify the voice, it makes the voice much clearer for a better listening experience and learning outcomes.

Soundfields differ from PA systems and amplifiers which amplify every sound and can make a room noisier. A soundfield system enhances only the speaker’s voice, making it clearer and easier to understand. The result? Improved learning outcomes for everyone.

How are soundfield systems set up?

Soundfields are wireless and hands free, connected by lanyard microphones and Bluetooth devices. They consist of two main parts: the microphone and the speaker/s.

Soundfields come in two configurations, portable or fully installed. A portable system is suitable for any public address forum and can be easily moved between indoor and outdoor venues, while a fully installed soundfield system delivers consistent, reliable, voice amplification and clarity. Soundfields can also be connected to most personal wireless communication systems for hearing aid or cochlear implant users.
